These things represent me! But now I want to distance myself from them. My helping others find Jesus; Clair, my wonderful helpmate in ministry; and even my suit that I’m wearing. They all represent me as a minister. These things are who I am; they are a part of what I do. Kyle thought of Judas denying Jesus. I am denying these things that have meant so much to me. But why now; why am I trying to deny them now in the company of an old friend? The answer is right in front of him like a haunting reminder, but Kyle refuses to acknowledge its taunt.
Now they were constantly on Kyle to go to church with them. ” Kyle was not interested. It all sounded more like a pyramid scheme. His education had taken root so that his mother’s “blab it and grab it” religion could never stand against the scrutiny of scientific method, empirical evidence, objective research, and the educational kingpin, Critical Thinking.
