Draw a dashed line around the Masonite itself. This will help you orient the pieces later. 15 Place the bolts through the holes in the inner wings and screw on the nuts. You’re going to bolt these to the outer wing, so again make sure you have left- and right-hand pieces. Still good? Okay, now line up the inner wings with the dotted lines you drew on the thin faux-fur pieces, so the fabric covers the heads of the bolts. Fold the excess fabric over the back of the inner wing and staple it down. Tack it first in four or six places and then work your way around.

17 Lay the bird feeder on its back again and drill a 1/4-inch hole in the middle of the lower front panel. Drill through the LOWER FRONT panel and INTERNAL RAMP, but don’t drill through the rear of the feeder. Make sure this hole is perpendicular to the back face of the feeder so the landing perch is parallel to the ground when the feeder is mounted. See image g. 18 Drip some wood glue into the hole and insert the 1/4-inch wooden dowel. This will support even the chubbiest of birdseed enthusiasts.

See image b. 4 Now take one of the corners formed by your folded arrow and line it up on the center seam of the plane so the edges on either side of the corner form a 45° angle with the center seam. See image c. Do the same with the other corner. Here’s where you can do some Skunk Works-quality customization, if you want. For example, instead of bringing the corner of the wing flaps all the way to the centerline, keep the 45° angles, but place each corner 3/8 inch away from the center seam. This will give the wings more surface area, which translates to longer flight times.
