We started the process of finding sites for study by dedding that small groups working towards production of some artefact to spedfic, relatively short, time scales would give a good indication of what some knowledge workers do. We feIt that suffident information about a small set of processes could be achieved by detailed data analysis in an intensive study, together with additional interviewing and the running of focused discussion groups.
